Description
Johann Sebastian Bach's ability to compose in a 'Italian taste' is demonstrated not only in the well-known concert that bears this nickname but also in many works of the Thomaskantor.
While Italy was the promised land for musicians in the 18th century, it is remarkable that Bach himself never set foot in Italy. Instead, he familiarized himself with the latest musical developments primarily through studying exemplary works. "Bachs Italien" traces these paths and paints a panorama of Italy's sound world, from which Bach drew inspiration in many ways.
