On Saturday, December 5, 2026, the TurmQuartier will become wild, exciting, and of course football-loving: The well-known children's book author Joachim Masannek, creator of the legendary series 'The Wild Football Kicks', will be a guest and take visitors into the world of Leon, Marlon, and their friends. Joachim Masannek, born in 1960, studied German literature and philosophy as well as at the University of Film and Television. His versatile career has led him to work as a cameraman, set designer, and screenwriter for film, TV, and studio productions.
He became famous mainly through his children's book series 'The Wild Football Kicks'. The stories about friendship, football, courage, solidarity, and great adventures have been inspiring generations of young readers for many years. The books have now been published in numerous countries – alone in the German-speaking world, 15 million copies have been sold.
The Wild Kicks have also made history on the big screen: As a screenwriter and director of the three films 'The Wild Kicks', Joachim Masannek thrilled more than ten million cinema-goers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
But Masannek knows the world of the Wild Kicks not only from his books. As a coach, he built the real Wild Kicks team. He is also the father of the now adult footballers Marlon and Leon, who are also part of this extraordinary story.
Today, Joachim Masannek lives with his children Ann Jolin and Lijan Jazz on a houseboat in Berlin.
