Description

From Sputnik to Artemis, from Méliès to Kubrick, from Sinatra to Bowie – space has attracted explorers, inspired imagination, and enchanted hearts. For over 70 years, the Star Wars have moved countries and minds. Press cartoons have accompanied the conquest of space and continue to report on it. Like many critical, ironic, allegorical, and playful constellations, they illuminate space with their brilliant ideas. On the occasion of the return to the Moon with the Artemis mission and the upcoming solar eclipse this summer, the Maison du Dessin de presse invites you on a summer journey to the Moon and beyond, through the portholes of about a hundred exhibited drawings – from the first step on the Moon to space tourism, technical challenges, the competition between countries, the figures of our astronauts and women in space, including two drawings that flew aboard the Discovery. A total of 50 press illustrators from various countries, mainly from the USA and Switzerland, enthusiastically participated in this exploration of our space.
