Description
Asya Fateyeva is considered one of the leading classical saxophonists and expands the repertoire of her instrument with innovative programs and stylistic versatility. Born in Crimea, she studied in Cologne, Paris, and Lyon, among others, and is now a professor of saxophone in Hamburg and Lübeck. She combines original works for saxophone with arrangements from Baroque, Classical, Romantic periods as well as projects with jazz and world music. As the first woman, she reached the final of the International Adolphe Sax Competition in 2014 and won 3rd prize. She is also a recipient of the Klassik Echo award. Fateyeva performs with renowned orchestras such as the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and the Dresden Philharmonic and is a guest at international festivals including Lucerne, Dresden, and Schleswig-Holstein, where she was the featured portrait artist in 2024. Her playing is characterized by openness to different styles and cultures, making the saxophone experienceable in new musical contexts.
