Description

In our production, we want to pay tribute to the ancient form of improvised theater, Commedia, which entertained audiences first in Italy and France and later throughout Europe from the mid-16th century to the end of the 18th century. Its designation dell’arte (in Italian, “arte” means not only art but also craft) implies that it was performed by professionals who sought to make a living through acting. We also strive for this, and this kinship across centuries has given us the courage for this whimsical paraphrase, loosely inspired by the preserved scripts of the original commedia dell’arte.
