Description

The program of Slavic Romanticism includes some of the most well-known,
most beautiful, and most melodic works of the entire music literature.
In the symphonic cycle "Ma Vlast" (My Homeland), Bedřich
Smetana, considered the "creator of Czech national music," celebrates his
homeland. The loving musical depiction "The Moldau" ("Vltava") enjoys
international popularity today. It depicts the course of the
Moldau river through the enchanting Bohemian landscape.
Antonín Dvořák's outstanding Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" is the
result of mature life experience. The symphony became his most popular
and successful, and made the name Dvořák known worldwide.
Dvořák combined entirely new, American-influenced themes with the
best compositional techniques from all his previous symphonies. Despite
exotic American influences based on indigenous and
African styles, it is entirely Czech music. The experience of America brought
completely new inspiration for the creation of the great
composer.
Tchaikovsky's overture "Romeo and Juliet" is among his most popular
works; in terms of melodic invention, the pleasantness of instrumentation,
and the coherence of the effect, the overture is attributed to the best works
of Tchaikovsky. The work is, not least because of its
sensual love theme and its exciting climax, one of the most successful
and satisfying works of the composer.
The concert is performed authentically, with true Slavic soul, by
the CZECH SYMPHONIANS, PRAGUE, one of the most successful
musical exports of the Czech Republic, under their dynamic conductor Petr Chromčák.
