ANIMITTWOCH: THE BIRTH OF KITARO: MYSTERY OF GEGEGE

Description

With ANIMITTWOCH, the KULTMOVIEGANG brings a selected anime back to the cinema every first Wednesday of the month. THE BIRTH OF KITARO tells the origin story of the iconic Yokai boy in dark, atmospheric images. Go Koga delves deep into Shigeru Mizuki's classic and shows a post-war Japan where ghosts and humans exist in eerie proximity. Instead of child-friendly adventures, we are presented with a mature, sometimes disturbing fairy tale about birth, death, and the supernatural. A fresh, unusually dark look at a cult figure.
