As part of MONO:MONO German, English surtitles What do you think, in which country do you live? Karl-Konrad knows the answer and it is different than expected: The key is Angela Merkel. Because her great moments in the last 35 years were also our great moments. In the East, as in the West. But how on earth did she, as a Protestant pastor's daughter, as a woman from the East, become the most powerful politician in the world? And what has she made of us? Karl-Konrad has come to talk about Angela Merkel. It's about the authority of interpretation. Wasn't he one of the fishermen who visited Angela Merkel in Stralsund in the 90s, shortly before they had to give up their work? Didn't he dictate the article for the FAZ that was supposed to overthrow the Palatinate Helmut Kohl and finally also the Swabian Schäuble? From the social margins, from the East, author Juliane Hendes lets her fictional protagonist describe the path of "our country" into the here and now. At the same time, she raises the question of how identity and political everyday life intertwine so much that they can no longer be separated. For all of us, after the grand tattoo and the unveiling of her painting for the Chancellery, one last question remains: And what do we do now? They share an ongoing engagement with origin and (East German) homeland and resulting questions regarding their own political stance. Tim Hillemacher is a photographic artist from Düsseldorf. His camera mainly captures people in moving environments and thus raises questions about the influence of the environment on people.

ANGELALAND is a theater performance that deals with Germany's political identity and the role of Angela Merkel. The production by Juliane Hendes illuminates the intertwining of personal and political history and takes place at TD Berlin.
