Admission: 7:30 PM, Start: 8:00 PM At the most wonderful time of the year, a classic shines in new splendor: Andrea Sawatzki and Christian Berkel – two of Germany's most famous actors – offer the audience their interpretation of Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol." Together, they give voice and depth to the touching story of the hard-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge, who, through three spirits, recognizes the importance of compassion and humanity.
Musically, the evening is accompanied by David Orlowsky, one of the most outstanding clarinetists of his generation. His specially arranged pieces for the reading create an atmosphere between melancholy, hope, and festive joy.
A special evening in the lights of the Berlin Cathedral – festive, literary, and musically masterful. Andrea Sawatzki is one of Germany's most renowned actresses. She became known, among other things, as Tatort commissioner Charlotte Sänger. Besides her acting career, she is a successful author of several novels, including the bestsellers Brunnenstraße and her new novel: Biarritz. Christian Berkel is a multiple award-winning actor and bestselling author. He has appeared in international productions such as Inglourious Basterds or Downfall. His autobiographical novels The Apple Tree and Ada have been enthusiastically received by both press and audiences. David Orlowsky is an internationally celebrated clarinetist and composer. As founder of the David Orlowsky Trio, he has made a name for himself with stylistically open music. Today, he performs with solo programs and chamber music formats, including at the Elbphilharmonie, Carnegie Hall, and the Salzburg Festival.
