Alte Weihnachtslieder Neu · Christian Steyer & Der Berliner Solistenchor - Alte Weihnachtslieder Neu - Schlossgut Altlandsberg, Schlosskirche

Description

The Dresden New News titled: "Christian Steyer manages to get people singing in a way they hardly thought possible," the Saxon Newspaper "Surprise and Goosebumps" and the TAZ conclude with "Unique in the German music scene." Founded by actor, composer, and speaker Christian Steyer, his ensemble Der Berliner Solistenchor celebrates its 26th concert year with 7 performances. Through working with old Christmas carols, Steyer noticed how often they are kitsched and flattened, and decided to counteract the clichés with something original. Through a very personal arrangement of the songs, he aimed to highlight their immense musical and content potential and create an evening-long cycle of songs to perform with an extraordinary choir that breaks the classical framework.
In the songs he selected for the concert cycle Alte Weihnachtslieder Neu, he sees a connection to our lives, but also to myths embedded in many cultures. "These songs convey a universal principle of life: that one can come from darkness to light through a not-so-beautiful experience, and find something unforeseen." Gently working with elements of various genres, he transformed well-known Christmas carols into a sound wonder for choir and piano. A refreshing change from the usual jingling of the Advent season and a delight for lovers of both modern and classical music alike. Those who hear him with his ensemble can feel it: the pulsating energy of old German Christmas carols. Applause and reviews speak for themselves. For many concertgoers, Christmas begins with the Berliner Solistenchor. All dates, concert tickets, and CDs are available at: www.christiansteyer.com/termine
