Who would have thought that a single letter could cause so much chaos…?! "You have been living in Germany for a very long time - would you like to become a German citizen?" What a question - complete nonsense! "I had never asked myself this question before. I first looked closely at the letter because I have learned: You have to be careful in Germany, ever since Gutenberg invented the fine print in the 15th century. Maybe it says there, being German is free in the first year, but then..." But nothing, no fine print, no advertising, instead official government mail. "I thought to myself: Becoming German - why not? But at the same time also: Why actually? You must know, French AND German, that's a contradiction in itself: Germans are disciplined, punctual, and efficient - French are... normal!" But with ALFONS, suddenly nothing is normal anymore: Just yesterday he was a successful racing reporter with a training jacket and a fluffy microphone, and suddenly everything is thrown out of balance... In his program, ALFONS tells the story of his becoming German, from the enchanting, sunny childhood days in France to the intoxicatingly velvety gray of German official offices. And ALFONS is not alone, but accompanied musically: His story is repeatedly transformed into a musical pas de deux, sometimes humorous, sometimes thoughtful, often completely surprising. "ALFONS - Even More German" is a wonderful mélange of theater and cabaret - and at the same time much more than the sum of its parts.
