To escape the gloom of small-town life in Celle, a few friends decide to form the band ALARMSIGNAL shortly after the turn of the millennium. The first songs are quickly written. The clubs they play in grow with each album, and soon they are also welcome guests at larger festivals. With "Insomnia," their ninth studio album has now been released.
The album's title aptly describes the sleepless nights many of us experience in these turbulent times. Singer and bassist Steff explains: "On political and social levels, many things rob us of sleep: stupidity, ignorance, egoism, hatred, and the regressiveness of humanity. We have 2025, and instead of learning from the past, Europe is moving further to the right. Right-wing extremist language and hate speech are becoming more acceptable, among politicians, in society, everywhere. Social networks are full of racism, anti-Semitism, fake news, and terrible sexism or homophobia." - Many songs on the new album are attempts to understand the increasingly complex world or to express incomprehension, processing external events as well as internal contradictions and thoughts, and bringing a little order to the chaos that surrounds us every day. Everything is changing, and the band is also evolving: Chris (KOTZREIZ, JENNIFER ROSTOCK, BERLIN BLACKOUTS) is not only a guest feature on one song but now firmly sits behind the drums after a lineup change. With the album, a new chapter begins for ALARMSIGNAL in every respect. Besides consistently positive reviews, the band entered the official German album charts at an impressive 15th place, seamlessly continuing the success of their predecessor album "Ästhetik des Widerstands" (20th place). ALARMSIGNAL's live performances confirm their status as one of the most well-known and active German punk bands – over 600 concerts played and recently sold-out shows at the legendary SO36 in Berlin or Conne Island in Leipzig. Wherever ALARMSIGNAL appears, euphoric atmosphere is guaranteed – we look forward to the upcoming tour and sweaty mosh pits at festivals across the country!
