Description

Asya Fateyeva, Saxophone:
Asya Fateyeva is one of the outstanding representatives of classical saxophone and places the instrument at the center of the music scene with her artistic vision and versatility. Born in Crimea, she captivates with innovative programs that combine various styles and epochs – from Baroque and Classical to Romantic, as well as contemporary compositions, jazz, and world music. Her playing is characterized by technical brilliance, emotional depth, and a distinctive sound. Early on, Asya Fateyeva gained international attention: in 2014, she made history as the first woman to reach the final of the renowned International Adolphe Sax Competition in Belgium, where she placed third. Since then, she has been regarded as a pioneer who has firmly established the saxophone in the classical music scene. Her concert activities have taken her to renowned stages and festivals worldwide. She has performed with orchestras such as the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Vienna Symphony, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Ensemble Resonanz, the Chamber Academy Potsdam, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, and the MDR Symphony Orchestra. Under the direction of renowned conductors such as Robin Ticciati, Bar Avni, Nil Venditti, Vladimir Spivakov, Joseph Bastian, Dirk Kaftan, and Michael Sanderling, she has appeared at venues including the Vienna Musikverein, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. Highlights of the 2025/2026 season include her return to the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin and debuts with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, and the State Orchestra Darmstadt. Furthermore, she continues her successful collaboration with the Lautten Compagney Berlin; with this ensemble, she has already released her second CD, Dancing Queen, featuring works by ABBA and Rameau – awarded the Opus Klassik in 2025. Her new CD Nutcracker Unwrapped, an arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker by Wolf Kerschek, will be released in autumn 2025. She began her musical education as a young student at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Professor Daniel Gauthier. She received crucial impulses through study stays in France with Claude Delangle (Paris) and Jean-Denis Michat (Lyon). Additionally, she completed an advanced course in chamber music at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. Today, she imparts her knowledge as a professor of classical saxophone at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre and the Lübeck Music Academy.
Severin von Eckardstein, Piano:
Severin von Eckardstein is one of the most important German pianists of his generation and is well established on many major stages worldwide with solo and orchestral concerts. He has appeared with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, NHK Orchestra, and Mariinsky Orchestra under conductors like Paavo Järvi, Jaap van Zweden, Marek Janowski, Valery Gergiev, and Philippe Herreweghe. The artist received significant impulses during his artistic training from Prof. Barbara Szczepanska, Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, and Prof. Klaus Hellwig and gained further inspiration through studies at the International Piano Academy Lake Como, Italy. For the winter semester 23/24, he was appointed professor at the HfMT Cologne. Chamber music also holds a high place in his repertoire. He has performed at festivals such as the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland and, together with cellist Heinrich Schiff, at the Risør Chamber Music Festival in Norway. Artists like Sophia Jaffé, Isang Enders, Isabelle van Keulen, and Igor Levit are among his partners. Together with Franziska Hölscher, he founded the chamber music series "Klangbrücken" at the Berlin Konzerthaus several years ago.
