Advent atmosphere at Opočno Castle. Tours of the first floor during the festive season. Special tours of the castle interiors. Join us as we travel back to the times when Christmas was being prepared at the castle. Special Advent tours of the castle interiors will show you how the festive season was prepared and experienced in the past – from Advent traditions and decorations to the festive table and the Christmas gifts exchanged by the nobility. You will learn who was behind the tradition of the Advent wreath and Christmas tree, what could not be missing from the Christmas Eve table, and how Christmas was celebrated in different parts of the world. You can also expect more interesting facts about castle life during Advent and inspiring festive decorations that will create a magical atmosphere for the tour. And don't forget to look for the golden piglet! The golden piglet, which according to an old tradition is seen by those who fast on Christmas Eve, has its roots deep in the past – records of this tradition date back to the 16th century. In Opočno, we have turned it into a small Advent game: you can purchase piglets at the ticket office, and those who find all of them during the tour will receive a small sweet reward at the end. Come enjoy Advent a little differently – with the scent of history, the charm of Christmas traditions, and the festive atmosphere of Opočno Castle. Tour dates: November 21, 2026, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (on this day, there will be a market with accompanying programs in the castle courtyards - entry to the courtyard is charged!!!) November 22, 28, and 29, 2026, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (tours start on the hour) December 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2026, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (tours start on the hour) December 27 to 30, 2026, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. For pre-registered groups of children from primary and nursery schools, we offer Advent tours of the castle interiors on weekdays except Mondays, from November 24 to December 18, 2026 - tours adapted to the age of children (tour duration 30 min). Reservations for nursery and primary schools can be arranged via email: opocno@npu.cz or by phone: 602 289 025, or landline: 494668216. Admission for primary and nursery schools is a flat rate of 60 CZK (supervision by educators is free). Evening Advent tour dates of the castle: December 18 and 26, 2026, at 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. Admission for castle tours: standard 180 CZK; reduced 140 CZK (seniors 65+, youth, ZTP, ZTP/P); children (6-17 years) 50 CZK, children (0-5 years) free. Tour duration 40 min. Tickets can be purchased online (as XIV. Short Christmas Tour) or at the castle ticket office until capacity is sold out. (reservations possible for groups of more than 10 people) ONLINE TICKET.
