The premise of Adrien Laplana's new solo show is simple: To speak kindly of sadness.
The show opens with Adrien forced to hang his coat on his therapist's coat rack, then compelled to recall his first moment of joy. The only problem is, Adrien struggles to remember this memory. From there, an awkward silence develops with his interlocutor that he cannot bear! A sad memory would have been so much easier. It wouldn't have posed any problem. He would gladly have talked about his tumultuous adolescence or that day in June 1998 when Benoît Courtaix ruined his 6th birthday. Thanks to that, the silence wouldn't have lasted and no one would have felt uncomfortable! Because yes, being sad isn't cool but it has the advantage of being concrete. "Funny story of a sad guy" is a varied and rhythmic one-man show offering a perfectly balanced mix of sketches and stand-up. This show with gentle and absurd humor has only the intention of questioning together our relationship with sadness. An objective that will certainly not make us happier but alive, and that's already not bad.
