Chin Gougalon or R. Saunders Scar. THE GENEVA COMPETITION – INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION Founded in 1939, the Geneva Competition is among the most important international music competitions. Its goal is to discover, promote, and support young talents, providing them with the necessary tools to develop an international career. Each year, two disciplines are offered alternately, including piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, cello, viola, string quartet, singing, percussion, conducting, and composition. 80th EDITION – CONDUCTING & COMPOSITION This year, the Geneva Competition celebrates its 80th edition, with the return of the Conducting Competition, for the first time since 1994! The six semi-finalists selected after the first two rounds in 2025 will successively conduct the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Contrechamps Ensemble, and the Swiss Romande Orchestra across three rounds. The three finalists will then have the opportunity to conduct the OSR during two finals at the Victoria Hall, including a joint final with the Composition Competition. All rounds are open to the public and streamed live. They will be hosted by journalists Charlotte Gardner and Antoine Pecqueur.
