4 x 4: Workshop for Adults

Description

Four people, eight legs – but only one soul: Gregor Samsa transforms into a beetle in this opera, portrayed on stage by a beetle quartet. It does not speak with words, but with chords, soundscapes, and noises. But what does a transformation sound like, a strangeness in one's own body? How does a common rhythm arise? And what happens when someone suddenly falls out of sync? We follow the musical creation of this production from Kafka's literary text through libretto and composition to the stage. Along the way, we experience how diverse opera can sound and how music creates moods. Together, we try out what happens when language, body, and sound come together. A workshop for adults to listen, move, experiment, and transform.

General Information

The "4 x 4" workshop takes place at Theater Winterthur and is aimed at adults. Participants experience the musical creation of an opera based on Kafka's text and can actively participate in the connection of language, body, and sound.
