The Pforzheim band Cover Up celebrates its 30th anniversary on November 14, 2026, at the Congress Centrum Pforzheim. Since the mid-1990s, the formation has represented a type of cover band that never limited itself to simply playing songs. Instead, classics were dissected, like mechanics dismantling a race car, reassembled and reconstructed to be brought back to the stage with a hefty dose of their own attitude. Cover Up was never just a cover band; they didn't treat songs as museum exhibits to be dusted off carefully and reproduced reverently. What started as a side project in 1996 quickly developed into a fixture in the southern German live music scene. Since then, Cover Up has played through city festivals, clubs, and festival stages, with a repertoire ranging from rock icons to pop evergreen hits, but always carrying the unmistakable band sound: powerful, direct, and sometimes with a necessary wink. The band's motivation after 30 years remains the live experience. While some other cover bands glide through their sets polished and ironed, Cover Up relies on spontaneity — extended guitar and keyboard solos, surprising song mashups, and a deliberate closeness to the audience, reminiscent more of a sweaty garage club show than a routine nostalgia program. For the 30th anniversary, the band is happy to look back and plans a special anniversary show with many guests from the band's long history and, of course, a setlist that traverses more than three decades of rock and pop history, loud, passionate, and always ready to turn the next live concert into a memorable moment.
