Zemlinsky Quartet (Janáček Brno 2026)

Description

The Zemlinsky Quartet concert will feature a trio of powerful and deeply personal works of Central European modernism from the 20th century. The program will include String Quartet No. 4 by Emil František Burian – an intimate and at times harsh testimony of creative and human return after wartime suffering, String Quartet No. 2 by Béla Bartók, which combines expressive energy with the rhythmic rawness of Hungarian folklore, and finally "Letters of a Confidant" by Leoš Janáček, a musical confession of deep emotion and a life assessment by the composer at the very end of his creative journey. This significant Czech ensemble will present three extraordinarily authentic perspectives on human experience reflected in chamber music.
