Yes, don’t Panic! is a democratic conducting experience for improvising musicians and their audience. Musicians send each other performance instructions via tablets, while the audience can participate using their smartphones to take on conducting roles. The set of instructions includes fundamental musical concepts such as dynamics, rhythm, tone color, and improvisation techniques. Despite the individual and sometimes surprising approaches of the musicians, the event allows for the creation of layered, unpredictable musical worlds filled with instant improvisation, humor, and a touch of madness.
