Embedded in electronic ambient soundscapes, UMS’nJIP weaves them together into a comprehensive audiovisual work of art. With a delicate and atmospheric touch, UMS’nJIP rework Christmas sentimentality and, with their otherworldly songs, conjure up a contemplative, atmospheric, yet also socially critical bridge to our crazy times. For more information, visit: https://umsnjip.ch/program-xmassongs.htm UMS’nJIP (Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen), with over 300 commissioned works and 1,600 concerts in 40 countries, as well as 35 international awards, rank among the most active ensembles for contemporary new music, having performed at venues ranging from the Liceu in Barcelona and Steghi in Athens, the Alexandrinsky in St. Petersburg, the CRR in Istanbul, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the Colón in Buenos Aires, the Shanghai New Music Week, the Venice Biennale, and Binn, Switzerland. At the same time, through IGNM-VS, they organize the Forum Wallis Festival for New Music and serve on various international committees, including the Nomination Committee for the Kyoto Prize for Music in Japan. In 2022, they settled in Goms and, together with MEbU (Münster Airport), founded an art space for contemporary music not far from the Rhône Glacier.
