Workshop: Ceramic Painting

Description

Paint your own ceramic tiles in the artistic style of Renaissance apothecary ceramics. Be inspired by historical templates or create your own Renaissance style.
At the beginning of the workshop, you will receive a brief introduction to the art and cultural history of Maiolica - the special painting technique of ceramics in the Italian Renaissance. No prior knowledge is required for the workshop itself; beginners are explicitly welcome. Children can also participate in the workshop, but only accompanied by adults. Your finished tiles will then be glazed and fired by Wild at Art Studio and can be picked up there after two weeks. Workshop registration is available at 061 207 48 11. It is recommended to visit the special exhibition beforehand to participate in the workshops. The museum entry and workshop costs are funded by the SNSF Agora grant. If you have registered and cannot attend, please cancel by phone. There will be a waiting list.

General Information

The workshop at the Pharmaceutical History Museum of the University of Basel offers participants the opportunity to paint ceramic tiles in the style of Renaissance apothecary ceramics. An introduction to the art history of Maiolica is provided, and the finished tiles can be picked up after two weeks.
