Dino & dinosaur - Living pictures of days gone by

Description

How did the dinosaurs live? What did they eat? How fast did they grow? Why did they grow so big? And what was their social behavior like? Our permanent exhibition provides you with vivid answers to these and other questions. And we say goodbye to the idea that dinosaurs were primitive monsters. The permanent exhibition conveys impressions of what the world looked like 150 million years ago and the landscapes through which the dinosaurs roamed. What many people still don't know: Dinosaurs have also been found in Switzerland. We show remarkable objects and current findings at first hand. In addition to a dynamic skeletal reconstruction of a 7.5 m long Allosaurus, a life-size model of the Plateosaurus, which was once common in Switzerland, is also on display. An embryo of a parrot-billed dinosaur that has been preserved in an egg is truly sensational. From the same species, we present a globally unique find in which the outline of the skin, the imprints of the scales and the bristles on the tail are visible. A sandpit with a hidden skeleton of a small carnivore invites children to enjoy an exciting excavation. A diorama with plastic reconstructions shows the underwater world at the time of the dinosaurs.
