Description

Two people. A closed system. Questions upon questions. Routines, relationships, and a space that slowly falls apart. Walls become permeable boundaries. A door opens, but no one goes through. The future: Germany is governed by an authoritarian party that controls lives, bodies, and rights. Mathilda secretly ends her pregnancy and begins an internal uprising against a system of surveillance, oppression, and fear.
Based on the novel of the same name by Nora Burgard-Arp "We would notice if it tipped?" Using Mathilda's story from the novel of the same name by Nora Burgard-Arp, Wir doch nicht asks uncomfortable questions about our present: How much control do we accept out of fear? When does adaptation become habit? And why does silence sometimes feel easier than resistance? In the end, the focus turns back to us. How far do we allow it? How long do we believe we are unaffected? A theatrical-performative corset of questions about political shifts, self-determination, and the late awakening in a society that believes it is not meant.
