Director: Nils Engelhardt State Affair on the Thin Edge: When the truth "Out of Control" gets out of hand What does an honorable State Minister do when the planned love adventure with the opposition's secretary ends abruptly and, above all, lifelessly? For Richard Hill, a nightmare begins in a luxurious suite of the Westminster Hotel, threatening to ruin his political career and private life. Instead of exciting eroticism, the mismatched couple faces a tangible surprise: a supposed burglar is stuck lifeless in the broken sliding window of the suite. Calling the police is not an option for the minister, as the presence of the secretary would trigger a scandal no government could survive. In this moral dead end, Richard's loyal but chronically overwhelmed secretary George West proves to be the last, albeit unstable, rescue boat. George is quickly appointed crisis manager and must now take on roles for which he neither has the talent nor the nerves. What follows is a masterfully constructed escalation: to hide the dead man – who also proves to be surprisingly mobile – and the affair, a web of lies is spun so complex that the protagonists soon lose track themselves.
