Meeting point: Museum Entrance The Basel Christmas celebration has had many faces. During the Middle Ages, the Klingental nuns saw it as a sign of Christian charity. Even today, loved ones are often gifted — often less for religious reasons and more for social or consumer reasons. In this tour, we focus on the historical changes of the Christmas celebration: What was served in Basel households in the past? Since when are Christmas trees set up? And has the Freie Strasse always sparkled during the Advent season? Finally, we invite you to relax with some cookies and mulled wine and share your own Christmas traditions. Guided tour by: Salome Bender and Désirée Hess, co-managers of Museum Kleines Klingental
Duration: 90 minutes
Price: CHF 10.–/7.–
