Description
They are three – a Mongolian, a Bulgarian, and a Frenchman. But it feels as if an entire tribe of wild riders with violins on their backs and drums in their suitcases is leading us through the Asian steppe and the Balkans. Their music radiates a unique, powerful cohesion and exuberant enthusiasm. From the madness of Balkan dances to the rhythms of the desert interrupted by punk rock riffs, Violons Barbares gallops from the Mongolian steppes to the gates of Europe. Refreshing, brilliant, intoxicating!
Mysterious and hypnotic – this is the world of Violons Barbares' new, fourth album. It features rock from the distant Mongolian steppe, blues from Dracula's castle, folk from Bulgarian exorcism ceremonies, and unsettling rebetiko from dark taverns. The virtuoso and atypical trio immerses us in a world full of demons, vampires, ghosts, monsters, and dragons. Some evoke fear and terror, others inspire dreams.
After three albums and fifteen years of concerts worldwide, Violons Barbares create a new, exciting fourth work inspired by archaic folk beliefs from Bulgaria and Mongolia. The musicians pay tribute to their roots by reinterpreting legends and folk beliefs in a distinctly contemporary language.
