The Unerhört! Festival is stopping again in 2026 at the Rote Fabrik! FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27 Ingrid Laubrock's Grammy Season 7:30 PM, Club Room Ingrid Laubrock: Saxophone | Brandon Seabrook: Guitar | Shawn Lovato: Bass | Tom Rainey: Drums | DoYeon Kim: Gayageum Grammy Season gathers some of the leading voices of American jazz around Ingrid Laubrock; specifically: the vibrant Brooklyn scene, where musical genres touch and intertwine. The saxophonist from Germany, living in New York since 2008, has expanded her scope over the past ten years and found new ways to inspire, organize, and locate improvised music. She is active as a composer in her many projects, easily oscillating between fixed and spontaneous elements. There are harmonically and rhythmically bound pieces, free improvisation, chamber music, and even orchestral works. Many contrasts, fiery eruptions, and moments of rock. The band has a new album and is touring through Europe. Only tonight, especially for Unerhört!, the Korean DoYeon Kim, who has a central part on the album, will be performing. Hawkins' range from Oxford includes tours with South African drummer Louis Moholo or saxophonist Anthony Braxton, compositions for the London Symphony Orchestra, engagement with the Chicago AACM legacy, and accompanying Ethiopian vibraphonist Mulatu Astatke. The Ethiopian-born, Sweden-raised singer Sofia Jernberg has played chamber jazz, sung Arnold Schönberg with the Swedish ensemble Norbotten NEO, and performed Julius Eastman with Swiss pianist Simone Keller. Fascinated by Ethiopian music, she recorded folk songs with Hawkins in duo.
