Description
TV SMITH (UK) TV Smith was a founding member, singer, and songwriter of the Adverts, who formed in late 1976 and became one of the leading bands of the first wave of British punk rock. In early 1977, they regularly performed at the newly opened Roxy Club in London and gained cult status with the single "One Chord Wonders" released on Stiff Records. Their next release, "Gary Gilmore’s Eyes," became a top-20 hit, leading to radio and TV appearances and significant media interest. Another single, "No Time To Be 21," also charted, and the band spent the rest of the year touring with major acts like The Damned and Iggy Pop. The album "Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts," released in early 1978, is still regarded as a true classic of the era and is often listed among the twenty best punk albums of all time. As a committed independent artist embodying the original spirit of punk rock, TV performs worldwide as a solo acoustic artist and occasionally plays gigs with backing bands. In recent years, he has opened for Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned, and Ruts DC on major tours in the UK and has headlined tours across the UK, Europe, the USA, and Japan. In 2025, he embarked on a world tour covering the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and North America, with numerous performances planned for 2026, including a tour through Australia. Of course, a stop at the harbor pub is a must! Welcome back. youtube Facebook web
