With the provocative title "Trennt euch!" the Zurich author Thomas Meyer caused a sensation in 2017 – now Bern composer Christian Henking has turned it into an exciting musical theater piece. The libretto is by the author himself, who has transposed his thoughts on the necessity of honesty and separations into a lively scenic form. Henking, known for his finely crafted and often chamber-music-inspired compositions, finds a clear musical language for it.
In recent years, TOBS! has celebrated great audience successes with new operas by Swiss composers and authors, most recently including Fabian Müller's "Eiger" and Daniel Andres’ "Derborence". With "Trennt euch!" another original stage work by two successful Swiss artists is premiering. For Christian Henking, it is already his second commissioned work for the stages of TOBS! after his "Figaro¿" in 2014.
The direction is by Deborah Epstein, who has already delighted audiences with numerous productions at the house, from drama to Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro". The conducting is by Josephine Korda, winner of the Neeme Järvi Prize at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival 2025.
