TRANSMISSION LINE

Description

For "transmission line," the KlangLab ensemble collaborates with composer Robin Michel and visual artist Laura Mietrup. Based on the humming of high-voltage power lines as well as the electrical buzzing of transmission masts and antennas, they develop an immersive sound performance that makes urban infrastructures audible and spatially perceptible. Embedded in an installation setting, the ensemble embarks on a sonic expedition through the space. Architecture becomes a resonator, sound moves through the space, and the audience becomes an integral part of the performance. This creates new perspectives on the interplay of sound, space, and perception. With transmission line, KlangLab continues its interdisciplinary practice, combining music, performance, installation, and specially developed sound technologies into a multifaceted experience. The approximately 60-minute composition inaugurates the 2026/27 season of the ensemble and premieres at Silo 1 of the Tanzhaus Basel.
