**In the empty school building**
A city without young people. At least almost without. And not forever either. But now everyone is at ski camp and the school building is empty. Only six are still there. They did not go. Were they not allowed? Did they not want to? They do not know about each other. They actually know nothing about each other. And yet they have ideas about who the others are. And quite accurately, they are wrong every time. The play addresses the desire to be truly seen. It simultaneously questions the legitimacy of the labels people impose on each other daily. Can't complexity be endured differently? Must the world be divided into opposites – right or wrong, man or woman, "the ones" or "the others"? Mitch, Newbie, Kamille, The Old One, Pauline, Leslie, each character has their own soundtrack that describes the character and provides insights into the inner worlds that are hidden from the outside. Perhaps that was exactly the task for the six young people in this empty school building: to approach each other, to get to know the in-between, the ambiguous and ambivalent, and to accept the touch of others. **Who is Who**
For almost 50 years, the junge theater basel has been exactly what the name promises: the place for young theater in Basel. Here, professional performances are played for young people. Young actors work under the direction of professional theater makers – during 8 weeks in a daily rehearsal time of 8 hours – productions that are then performed about 20 times in Basel and later shown in Switzerland and also at international festivals. The ensembles mostly consist of young people from theater courses. Around the young people, positions such as direction, choreography, stage, costume, music, lighting, dramaturgy are staffed with professionals. Some productions are created as co-productions with other theaters or festivals.
