by Michael Ende It is December 31st. The wizard and professor Dr. Belzébub Irrwitzer receives an unpleasant visit from an emissary of Satan, a bailiff from hell named Mr. Maledictus Made. The reason for this visit is simple: Irrwitzer has not yet carried out all the evil deeds assigned to him for the year. If he does not fulfill his contract with evil before midnight, his soul will be confiscated.
His aunt, the witch Tyrannja Vamperl, comes to visit him. Together, they prepare the Wunschpunsch. Whoever drinks this potion sees their wishes come true in reverse — everything that is wished for turns into its opposite.
But the High Council of Animals is on alert and has sent two spies to the scene: the raven Jakob Krakel and the cat Maurizio di Mauro, whose mission is to discover the source of the evil spreading through the world. By overhearing Irrwitzer and Tyrannja’s conversations, they learn that all wishes will turn into their opposite when the clock strikes midnight. In a frantic race against time, they find an ally in New Year’s Eve itself to help save the world.
