The Hillbilly Moon Explosion

Description

The band The Hillbilly Moon Explosion, founded in Zurich in the late 1990s, combines rock’n’roll with blues, swing, sixties beat, country, surf, and chanson influences to create a distinctive sound. With this stylistic diversity, the group has made a name for itself well beyond the borders of the rockabilly scene. Although regarded by various media as one of the best rockabilly bands in Switzerland, the formation is still considered a secret tip. This is not least because they consistently avoid being confined to any stylistic box. Instead of sticking to classic rockabilly patterns, the band repeatedly incorporates the different musical preferences of its members. This openness also characterizes the current album "Back In Time," which was released in 2024 by Cleopatra Records. Featuring eleven original compositions and a reggae-inspired interpretation of Toussaint McCall's classic "Nothing Takes The Place Of You," the founding members Oliver Baroni and Emanuela Hutter showcase their qualities as songwriters. The band maintains the infectious energy and dynamics that have secured them a loyal fan base for years.
