Description

Three women are interrogated at the heavily secured border to Europe: a Yazidi from Iraq who fled from the Islamic State, an Afghan woman who escaped her violent husband, and a Libyan woman whose life has been marked by poverty, hunger, and sexual violence. They are accompanied by a newborn child. None of the three women claims to be the mother, so the child has a chance at a life in safety. An interpreter tries to mediate between the interrogated women and the officer. All three female characters are portrayed by the internationally renowned actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya. In the increasingly intense verbal battles, questions of origin, identity, and belonging arise – and whether home could perhaps also be a choice. A production by Shieveh Theater Company.
