Description
Tom Waits, Robert Wilson, William S. Burroughs TOBS — Musiktheater What happens when you chase the romantic "Freischütz" through the nightmare machine of the 20th century? "The Black Rider" does exactly that. The plot remains quite close to the original: The young writer Wilhelm makes a pact with the devil out of love for the forester's daughter, which grants him magical bullets. They hit every target except one: because the devil himself guides the last bullet... Surreal and full of abysses, this darkly absurd parable is from the pen of Robert Wilson (director of the original production), Tom Waits (music), and William S. Burroughs (book). "The Black Rider" quickly became a cult after its world premiere in 1990 in Hamburg. Director Olivier Tambosi and conductor Iwan Wassilevski now interpret the work musically and scenically anew. Following audience favorites like "Sweeney Todd," "Cabaret," and "Im weißen Rössl," they are already on their fifth collaboration at TOBS.
