Ségurant surpassed all knights of his time in strength and bravery, winning every tournament he participated in with distinction, until he was enchanted by the fairies Morgane and Sibylle, who sent him on a quest to hunt a fire-breathing dragon. The extraordinary adventures of this knight of the Round Table had been forgotten for centuries. They were rediscovered by a young medievalist, Emanuele Arioli, who scoured libraries across Europe in search of the manuscripts of this Arthurian novel. After more than ten years of research, Emanuele Arioli presents here the text of this lost novel, illustrated with miniatures from the original manuscripts, so that everyone can read it for the first time. He is also a co-author of the ARTE documentary The Knight with the Dragon and the comic series of the same name (Dargaud/Carlsen Comics) as well as a columnist for the show Le Fil Histoire on France Culture. As an archive paleographer and PhD medievalist (Sorbonne – Collège de France), he is the research director at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he leads the European project CAROLUS (European Research Council) on the global reception of Carolingian epic.
