Eddie Owens, a young bodybuilder from a small town, dreams of obtaining a coveted pro license. His religious mother Joanne devotes herself passionately to his career and views his ambitions through the lens of her faith. After a painful defeat at a local competition, Eddie's self-confidence wavers, and the pressure behind his carefully built body becomes visible. In search of a decisive advantage, he turns to experienced bodybuilder Mike, whose tough training leads him deeper into the dangerous world of performance-enhancing substances. As Mike becomes his mentor and gateway to the bodybuilding elite, Eddie develops a confusing attraction to him – conflicting with the rigid masculinity and conservative church culture shaping his life.
