Tchaikovsky was inspired by motifs from the original Scandinavian legend of a girl transformed into a swan to compose lyrical and melodic music, which became a masterful example of romantic ballet score. Princess Odette is cursed by Prince Rothbart into a swan, and only pure love can save her... Swan Lake is among the most popular ballets, and in Brno, you can see the performance in a great rendition by the NdB Ballet at the Janáček Theatre.
