Description
Hailing from New Orleans, Sullivan Fortner has been one of the top jazz pianists of his generation for over a decade. The Grammy-winning artist, composer, and bandleader impresses with tonal depth, stylistic openness, and extraordinary improvisational skills. He has also accompanied jazz stars such as Roy Hargrove, Christian Scott, and Stefon Harris for years. He gained international recognition with his solo album "Solo Game" (2024) and as co-producer and pianist on "The Window," an album recorded with the young jazz diva Cécile McLorin Salvant. Together, they delivered an unforgettable duo performance on the Moods stage. Now, Fortner visits with his trio and a new album. "Leave that in there" will be released this year on Artwork Records and continues the highly acclaimed predecessor album "Southern Nights," which won a GRAMMY in 2026. Fortner emphasizes authentic, honest musical expression in his trio, valuing spontaneity, untrained moments, mistakes, or raw recordings to "simply include them to capture genuine emotions." This concert takes place as part of the Schiffbau-Fest and is free for all. However, a ticket reservation is required.
