Storytelling in Practice Conference

Description

Live storytelling as a specific artistic genre is experiencing a great renaissance both in our country and around the world, while also finding an increasingly broader field of application beyond the stage. Storytelling supports emotional connections, allows for better retention of school material, helps build communities, is a valuable tool in therapeutic practice, aids in conveying values, and promotes critical thinking, building bridges and overcoming barriers. The conference will focus on how to apply storytelling in education, social and spiritual care, and in fostering active citizenship and the development of democratic values, taking place as part of the 10th International Storytelling Festival Kolotoč příběhů 2026. The program will include panel discussions, round tables, shared reflections, and future outlooks. The all-day conference will be followed by an evening program for the public, StoryJam, a shared stage at 19:00 in Meziprostor (theater SUD). Guests of the conference include: Lenka Dombrovská (CZ), Ondřejn Doskočil (CZ), Martin Ellrodt (D), Markéta Holá (CZ), Hana Malaníková (CZ), Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo (PL), Kristina Nesvedová (CZ), Ariane Pawin (FR), Michala Piskačová (CZ), Milda Varnauskaite (LT). Organized by Verbarium Association, a member of the Federation for European Storytelling FEST, the platform for creative learning uMĚNÍM, and the Association of Theater Educators of the Czech Republic. The 10th edition of the festival has received the patronage of the Czech Commission for UNESCO.
