How much is enough? Who is allowed to dream – and who has to calculate? Between Killwangen, Baden, and the Fricktal, a quiet but pressing question arises: What financial conditions shape life in Aargau? In SILENT MONEY, radikal plüsch brings one of the last great taboos of our society into focus – money. Between debt burden and inheritance shame, sustainable lifestyle and unpaid overtime, a touching, musical play unfolds about the reality behind the numbers.
The canton of Aargau is considered stable, down-to-earth, as the center. Yet over 11,000 people here live on social assistance. Poverty is less visible, less concentrated, but with over 10% of people at risk of poverty, no less real. It is spread across cities and municipalities, disappears behind facades, in commuter flows, in statistics – also in Baden. At the same time, most of the canton’s millionaires live here. Baden thus becomes a symbol of a mostly unspoken inequality. Here it becomes clear how much belonging is also negotiated through money: Who can afford security – and who lives from month to month?
SILENT MONEY is a play about fear and abundance, about shame, hope, and the everyday contradictions in dealing with possession, renunciation, and consumption. It asks who can afford a better world and who falls through the social net. Money divides, it connects – and often decides more than we want to believe.
