Attention, potential pitfalls ahead. Your child or someone in your circle has come out as queer? Are your knees secretly shaking during your first steps in queer territory? Do conversations within the family and friend circle about this topic feel like a gauntlet? Welcome to our survival training. Join us on a scenic walk through a collage of young queer voices, performance, and explanatory elements, and experience how the scenic motifs invite a shift in perspective. Allow yourself to be curious about the urge for binaries, for right and wrong. Then, take the opportunity at the 'Gay Aunts Coffee Klatsch' with jelly to ask questions without hesitation, to address and clear up prejudices, to complete half-knowledge, and to articulate uncertainties in dealing with young people whose sexual orientation and/or gender identity is currently changing. Yes, that's right: Participation is possible but not mandatory. You choose the form. Let’s dare to create a space for knowledge transfer together. Stepping into pitfalls is allowed and does not burden relationship levels. The Queers Are Alive is understood as an artistic intervention aimed at relieving young queer people so they do not have to act as experts for themselves and their generation. The invitation is specifically directed at the surroundings of young queers, at people who have had little or no contact with queerness and suicidality, as well as all interested parties. We are convinced: Difficult things need practice. Stick Around | The Queers Are Alive is an event designed to facilitate understanding and dialogue around queer identities. Taking place at Kulturhaus Central in Uster, it invites participants to engage in discussions and performances that challenge preconceived notions about queerness.
