Description
During the 2026 concert season, the Steiner Trio will focus on three major works from the piano trio repertoire, combining compositions from different eras within the same program. The Piano Trio in G major K. 564 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Piano Trio in G minor Op. 17 by Clara Schumann, and the Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor Op. 101 by Johannes Brahms span over a century of music history. These three works illustrate in different ways the evolution of the piano trio genre during the 18th and 19th centuries – from the clarity and balance of Viennese classicism to the concentrated and expressive musical language of the late 19th century, passing through the poetic and personal language of early romanticism. This direct confrontation highlights both the individual musical worlds of the three composers and the multiple connections between their works.
