Description

As part of the Artist-in-Residence format «Sonic Boom», eight artists and ensembles of contemporary and experimental music have the opportunity to realize their own concert formats, sound performances, and music theater. Over a period of two years, they will design and present two evenings each, in which they can express their individual artistic approaches. Accompanied by an in-house discourse format and mentoring program, the series provides space for exchange between audience, scene, and artists.
«Songs For» explores the concept of the song and breaks down familiar forms of songwriting into short, scattered musical materials. Questions of authorship and collaboration are at the center: ghostwriting, collective writing, and individual contributions intertwine and challenge the idea of a clearly assignable work.
Individual artistic working methods are passed on to other artists, adopted by them, reinterpreted, and further developed. Thus, the ensemble also moves between commonality and independence, between cohesion and fragmentation.
In this way, «Songs For» transforms creative processes, shares them, and recombines them. From different handwriting, a music emerges that seeks common roots without dissolving its polyphony.
