Description
Softcult combines the heaviness of grunge with shoegaze and dream pop, creating their unique 'Riotgaze' style. Since their formation in 2020, the Canadian twin sisters Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn have infused their music with feminism, social issues, identity, and empowerment, alongside distorted guitars and memorable melodies. Their debut album, 'When A Flower Doesn't Grow,' released in January 2026, reflects themes of resilience and environmental conditions. The band maintains a DIY ethos, handling production, artwork, and videos largely independently, echoing the Riot Grrrl movement.
