Sofa Reading with Julia Sutter

On Sunday, September 27th, author Julia Sutter will read from her debut novel «Und das wäre erst der Anfang» in a private living room in Allschwil. In the novel, Sutter tells the story of Krystina, a young woman who tries to keep her family together after losing her mother. While her sisters gradually find their way back into life through job successes and childhood happiness, Krystina risks sinking into her own grief. Julia Sutter lives with her family in St. Gallen and works in communications alongside writing. She studied at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel. The sofa reading will be moderated by Basel-based author Sandra Engelbrecht.
The event is organized by the Verein Sofalesungen, which presents public readings in private spaces and provides a stage for Swiss debuts. The association has existed since 2014, and since this year, sofa readings are also held in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. After the reading, an aperitif will be offered, providing an opportunity to exchange with the author and enjoy a cozy gathering.
