SMOKIE IS BACK IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC! British legends live in Olomouc. After a fantastic return to Czech stages in June 2025, when the Brnokoncert agency organized sold-out concerts in Prague, Brno, and Ostrava, the British band Smokie is back! Their show was part of the world tour Greatest Hits World Tour 2025 – and due to the enormous interest from fans, a new date is planned for 2026. As the name of the tour suggests, fans can look forward to a selection of the biggest hits from this legendary glam rock band. Timeless songs like Don’t Play Your Rock ’n’ Roll to Me, Living Next Door to Alice, and Oh Carol will be performed – tracks that entire generations know and that still appear on radio stations around the world. Smokie's popularity extends far beyond their native Britain – the Czech audience has loved their music so much that it has inspired local artists as well. Just to mention songs like Alenka v říši divů (Karel Zich), Mýdlový princ (Václav Neckář), or Prohrát není žádná hanba (Argema). The band's roots go back to 1965, when a group of high school students from Bradford, led by singer Chris Norman, formed a band that performed under various names – Yen, Essence, Elizabethans, or Smokey. It wasn't until the mid-70s that the name Smokie was established, which the whole world knows today. From small clubs, the band gradually worked their way up to become one of the biggest names in the global rock scene. A key turning point came in 1975, when producer Nicky Chin took notice of them. It was then that they released their debut album, which catapulted them into the charts worldwide. Singles If You Think You Know How to Love Me and Don’t Play Your Rock ’n’ Roll to Me quickly became hits, and Smokie joined the ranks of the giants of the 70s – Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones. Throughout their career, they have released more than twenty studio albums, countless live recordings, and greatest hits collections – and they certainly haven't lost their energy even after decades on stage. Supporting in Olomouc will be one of the most respected Czech bands – Precedens from Prague. The band has been active on the Czech scene since the 80s and has recorded several albums with Bára Basiková. Recently, Precedens released a great album Odstíny černé. Precedens will perform with: Martin Němec, Daniela Langrová, Karel Vošta, Pavel Nedoma, Zdeněk Imramovský, and Tomáš Kašpar. You may know Daniela Langrová from the Rock Opera Prague project.
