On Saturday, we will embark on a journey to the southernmost continent. Kynžvart Castle will welcome Ing. Pavel Kapler, Ph.D., the manager of the Czech scientific station Johann Gregor Mendel on James Ross Island in Antarctica. His lecture will shed light on life and work in one of the most remote places on the planet, the daily reality of a scientific station, and the environment that is practically inaccessible to most of us. The meeting will also serve as a reminder that traveling, exploring distant lands, and an interest in the world are not phenomena of today's time alone. The lecture is one of this year's events taking place at Kynžvart Castle as part of the long-term program of the National Heritage Institute, Following the Footsteps of Aristocratic Families, with this year's theme being Nobility on the Road. This theme highlights how significant a part of aristocratic life travel was, exploring distant lands, and bringing back new experiences, objects, and inspirations to their estates.
