Description

The songwriter founded and played in the Dresden Britrock band "The Smokkings" as early as 2007, gaining his first compositional and lyrical experience there. In 2013, he finally decided to start his solo project and formed a separate backing band. Since 2014, he has played more than 500 concerts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Some as part of extensive solo tours, but also with a full band, e.g., at various festivals and as a support act for international artists like Jordan Prince (USA), The Dead Heavys (Ireland), The Bland (Sweden), or Tim McMillan (Australia).
Positioned between folk, pop, and indie, the songs are sometimes euphoric, sometimes melancholic. The 2015 debut "Algeroy" offers a harmonious, sometimes contemplative sound experience that one gladly immerses oneself in and can let flow beautifully. The voice stands out from the genre-typical range: voluminous blues vocals, delicate falsetto, or gritty rock voice - the surprisingly versatile singing permeates the often autobiographical songs with dedication. The second album "Less Is Not Enough," released in 2018, is more differentiated and arranged on a larger scale. The title is programmatic, and the 13 songs deal with enduring longing, not giving up, and striving for more, to feel alive in every fiber of body and mind. After the production of the third album was delayed in 2020 due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the "Rivertiger EP" with three tracks was released in 2021. Following three more singles and music videos, the album "Enlightened Visions" was released in 2022. Both thematically and compositionally, the Britrocker ventures into deeper grounds here. Besides a broader range of musical expression, vulnerability and conscious imperfectionism are what make the artist and his work approachable, empathetic, and lively. The album concept deals with the feeling of alienation combined with the urge to break out of familiar worlds. Various key moments, such as isolation, tornness, reflection, and reorientation, are exemplified in the songs. The music aims to provide points of connection and association. In 2024, he released the very emotional and personal single "Never Give Up On Us," which seems to herald a new era in terms of the quality of his songwriting and the honesty of his lyrics.
Currently, JOHNETHEN FUCHS lives in Switzerland, in the beautiful town of Winterthur in the canton of Zurich, continues touring across the country, and is already working on new material.
